Some guitar amps work well for harp, some don't. Vintage doesn't really
matter. I had a Montgomery Wards Airline amp that looked cool, all tweed,
cigarette burns and all. Awful harp amp. Dull, lifeless, plus lots of
feedback. Might have been the worst reverb in any amp I've ever tried. Had a
Fender Bassman--early silver face 1968 I think, maybe 69. Okay but sterile.
A friend's late 40s early 50s champ is a very nice harp amp--the little
speaker doesn't give me quite enough oomph. Put tonebone tube adapters in
the bassman, dropped the watts down to around 8 watts triode mode with EL
84s and a 2X12 cab. Wonderful sound--for me.
